The Crickett And The Lion

Once there was a little cricket in the forest making a noise. It's not that it was a loud noise, but a noise nonetheless. A proud lion approached the cricket is a superior manner and asked why the cricket was making such a foolish and sickly noise.

The cricket replied, "because I have something to say."

"You cannot have anything of value to say," proclaimed the arrogant lion.

"But I have a right to say it. Do I not ?"

"It is not appropriate," roared the lion. "You are disturbing the whole forest and what you have to say cannot possibly be worth disturbing the whole forest. You must stop!"

"But, I am trying in a nice way to tell what I have to say," argued the cricket.

And with a quick swat of the strong lion's paw the cricket was knocked away into silence.

Later that night, as the lion slept, the cricket silently crept into the lion's ear. There he planted himself until the morning, waiting for the lion to wake. When the lion awakened, the cricket began to say once again what he wanted to say.

"Where is that cricket," spoke the lion. "I thought I dealt with him. There he is making noise again." And looking around, the lion furiously searched for the noise maker, only to discover that he could not find him.

Said the cricket, "I am in your ear, deep in your ear where you cannot hurt me. This I must do so you will listen to what it is I have to say."

And at that moment the lion felt the cricket in his ear. He began jerking his head and jumping around trying to shake out the noise maker. But, the cricket continued to speak. The lion's fury exploded and he began tearing at his ear, trying to get to the cricket with his sharp claws. Still, the cricket continued saying what he had to say. The lion madly tore away his ear and clawed deep into the side of his head, until his blood and brains were falling all over the ground. Soon, the proud lion was wounded and dead.
