For Visitors who are reading material on this site.
Much of the material at The StoryBin is public domain, or posted in the spirit of
sharing for strict personal use: with friends, family, or co-workers--to pass it on.
Commercial use is strictly prohibited for all material that is not public domain.
You must secure permission from the actual owners if you intend to reproduce or
distribute their material.
The StoryBin attempts to attribute all credits, where available, to material on
the site; however, you must not assume that something is public domain because we
have not listed an author or source. The StoryBin is a live database and is always
in the process of being updated.
US Copyright law makes some provision for what is called Fair Use of
copyrighted works, usually intended for educators, librarians, and reporters.
This provision is ambiguous, but suggests that purpose and character
of use is a consideration. Nonprofit educational purposes may be
considered Fair Use, while commercial use clearly is not.
The StoryBin can offer no advice on your use of material under the
Fair Use copyright provisions. If in doubt about your desire
to use a piece on the site, the best thing to do is contact the owner,
or consult an attorney.
Now, that being said, we will suggest that it may be okay to use a
piece for your Church newsletter, your sermon, a bulletin board
at work, a letter to cheer up a friend, or some other small personal use.
You should keep all copyright or credit information intact and quote
the source if in a sermon or educational lesson. It is certainly not
okay to attempt to use any copyrighted material on the site for anything
that comes even close to a commercial interest.
More About The StoryBin.
The StoryBin is an online Archive and database of material dealing with Positive Living
that is found circulating on the Internet. Their respective owners hold all copyrights.
Permission to reproduce or distribute can only be obtained by the respective holders of copyright.
We have included whatever ownership information was available as circulating, or as reviewed
by authors or publishers.
If you are an author and your piece has found its way into the database, then please contact
us immediately, so that we can determine disposition for the piece.
The StoryBin is a non-profit, non-commercial project, designed to collect and archive material
that is uplifting and positive in nature. If you are an author, we would like to respectfully
request that you allow your small piece a home here. Your small piece here can be a pointer
and link to your other works. If your piece resides here in the database, please contact us
so that we can make adjustments, corrections, modifications, or anything else that would help
you in publicizing your other works. The StoryBin seeks to provide a reciprocal benefit: We can
aid you in publicizing your works in exchange for posting a sampling of your work. You also
stand to benefit in other ways as you aid folks on their journey to seek positive ways of living
and carrying out their lives.
If you are an author or publisher, and do not like the above arrangement, then please contact
us immediately, no need to be nasty, just contact us and we will remove the piece immediately.
We would also like to offer all authors or publishers who have pieces residing on the site to
apply for your very own custom Web Page, in the
Writer's Index
section of the site.
This page can contain much more information about your works or interests, and will be linked
to all pieces within the site that you have posted. We invite published and non-published
authors. Get your very own Web Page linked to pieces in the database.
The StoryBin is an Ad-Free Zone. While we are glad to include any information to promote
your interest, we must decline offers to place advertisement banners on the site. This would not be in
keeping with the flavor of the site. We can place logos, publishers logos, pictures of books, and
anything else that would be tasteful.
Some authors have been disgruntled at finding their work on this site; however,
they are very small in number, and I think their objection reflects mood rather
than feelings that their commercial interest is being undermined.
Most authors realize the intent of the site, that there is no willful
infringement for profit intended, and easily see it as a promotional benefit.
We get the word out on who you are, where your works are, how to get them, and offer you a
personalized page to tell others about locating your works. Essential information on a
particular piece on the site is maintained in an active database, and can be corrected or
updated quickly.
We hope that you will allow your piece a home here at The StoryBin. Please contact
us about essential information on the piece, so that we can promote accurate linkage to sources.
Thanks for reading the notice, and Happy Authoring.
